About Our Phone Coaching Program
Alabama Tobacco Quitline services are provided by National Jewish Health and administered by the Alabama Department of Public Health. NJH is the nation’s leading respiratory hospital and is the largest nonprofit provider of tobacco cessation series in the United States. NJH is responsible for all activities associated with the call center, including receiving and processing all intake calls; providing up to five cessation coaching sessions; provision of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) medications; developing customized educational material for those seeking to quit tobacco use, including pregnant callers, teens, chew/spit tobacco users and Native Americans; program evaluation and outcomes reporting; and participation in marketing planning, media placement and related activities to promote the program.

Effective Jan. 1, 2014, Medicaid patients are eligible for smoking cessation medications. If your patient is a full Medicaid recipient or a pregnant Medicaid client, please complete the Smoking Cessation Prior Authorization form AND Quitline fax referral form and fax both to HID at the number listed on the form.
